Great Bed Plans

Great Bed Plans

Making beds can be as simple as a Shaker bed type, or if you’re that daring, a sleigh bed, or more complicated plans like Scandinavian bed framings. You can form a great bed frame with just the right knowledge and just the right equipment. However, how much you already know about woodworking will determine what kind of bed plan you’re capable of making.

There are types of beds that are originally constructed with long legs to keep people who sleep in it from catching cool drafts. Shaker beds are built to be usable and hardy. Shaker style beds, in case you don’t know what it looks like, is one of the plainest design there is when it comes to bed designs. If there is anything stylish about them, it’s merely the plan that is engraved into its four supports.

Scandinavian beds are great but hard to do bed designs. They are fine made and sport elaborate designs like what you usually find chipped into Viking ships of old.  The foot posts are generally flat squares and show well-designed ends. These types of beds are slanted on the top and bottom sides so it can support the foam without it having to fall off. These types of bed sometimes fashion a head post that woodworkers usually carve Viking heads, dragons or even horses to give it that Norse look.

When choosing for woodworking plans for beds, building bed might be easy at first glass. For some, they think making beds is as easy as making a flat surface and sticking in four legs for support. This, however, is not the case when making plans for beds. When looking for plans, ensure yourself that you’re making sturdy beds that will last for years to come.

A common rule for making beds based on plans is to determine how big your mattress is so you can adjust the size of your bed frame in the process. Knowing what size of mattress you are going to put in while save you a lot grief in the future.
