Stemless wine tumblers all the fashion for casual dining

Have you seen that there has been an upsurge in the use of stemless wine tumblers in recent months?

Stemless wine glasses are becoming very popular on occasions where wine drinkers want to use a special glass for wine tasting, but the setting may be a non-formal one and the host doesn’t want to risk the chance of top heavy stemmed glasses being upended and the precious wine splashed over carpets, table cloths and guests clothing.

The great thing about stemless wine tumblers is that they are very stable – they are great for outdoor eating at BBQ’s, on a yacht or power boat (when anchored of course), parties where the guests are wine enthusiasts, or large dinners.

On many an occasion of hosting a dinner we have had many an expensive well made wine deposited on table cloths, rugs and guests clothing – embarrassing for the guest and a waste of good wine.

When I went searching for stemless Pinot noir glasses I decided to use wine glasses that not only helped display the wine at its inherent best, but also would look fantastic on the table. It needed to be able to comprehensively relay the characters of a great Pinot noir and at the same time be practical enough for me to use for large groups of guests. The all important part of the Pinot glass – the bowl shape – has to be correct in order to send the wine to the right part of the palate.

When it comes to outdoors BBQ’s and roasting or grilling red meats, I need stemless Cabernet glasses for consuming cabernet or merlot wines. We dine outdoors a lot during the warmer months, either at home or at the beach and these stemless cabernet glasses are fantastic on outdoors furniture which in many cases can sometimes be less than stable.

Many of our casual guests prefer chicken to steaks or lamb, and as I am passionate about great chardonnays, I found these awesome stemless Riedel wine glasses for chardonnay drinkers. They have a base on the bowl which provides them with extra stability as the bowl itself is a little taller than those found on stemless red wine glasses.
