What to Do With Scrap Wrapping Paper

If you’re like me, you hate to throw anything away… especially beautiful scrap wrapping paper. But what can you do with it? It’s only a scrap… but wait! I’m sharing 3 simple projects that you can easily create with just a few supplies. You’ll be surprised what you can do with even a small piece of scrap wrapping paper. Give it a try… I think you’ll like it!

Add It To Your Scrapbook!

Most likely you received this pretty paper because it was wrapped around your birthday, anniversary, or wedding shower gift. So why not save ALL the memories of your special day in a scrapbook! On those pages you’ll record the day with pictures and journaling… add your scraps of wrapping paper too! Place a small piece of it next to the picture of the gift or the person who so generously gave it to you, or with a journaling piece talking about why it is so special. What a lovely way to remember the day, the gift and the person!

Use It To Wrap Another Gift!

Well… not in the same way of course… the scrap is probably too small. But try this… find a small gift box (either at home or at a local craft store) and decorate it! Depending on the size of the scrap you could adorn the box in two ways: (1) cut a piece to cover the box top and a strip to wrap around the sides; or (2) tear lots of small pieces and make a collage on only the top. Either way, you’ll have a beautiful new box that will be a lovely way to deliver your special gift!

Cover a Journal or Diary

Everyone needs a journal or a diary… whether it’s to record your personal feelings, or to document important information or events. In any case, using a boring composition book or a note pad just won’t do when you have beautiful wrapping paper scraps available! If you have a large piece of paper, cut pieces to cover both the front and back of the book. If you have only a smaller piece, trim it and cover the front of the book. And if you have only small pieces, make a collage! To make it even prettier, add a piece of ribbon, or embellishments like a felt flower or metal tag… whatever you have in your craft supplies drawer. You’ll have a beautiful new journal AND you’ll remember your gift and the person who gave it to you every time you pick it up.

IN SUMMARY

Take those scraps of wrapping paper and use them in a new way… in fact, use them just like you would scrapbook paper or card stock. You’ll find lots of uses for those little pieces… and you’ll have great memories every time you see them.
