Following are some of the reasons why I think that round tables should be chosen over the squared tables:

They are more casual

In the past, people were formal – - they would use square tables so that they could distinguish among the head of the family and the other members. This is why the head would sit at one end while the other members at along the sides. Today, people have changed – - they have become more casual and informal. Round tables let the members sit closer to each other and enjoy the meal in a more intimate manner.

They save space

Round tables save space. Small round tables are very popular for kitchen and dining room use but even if you want a table that fits 12 members of your family, you can go with a large one. However, it is interesting to note that even a large table that is round in shape would not take as much space as a large square shaped table. This makes them best to choose for small dining rooms or kitchens, as well as for someone who would like to leave much space to walk around freely.

They are versatile

These round tables are highly versatile. This is so because these have single support column in the centre, instead of legs coming out like the traditional square tables. Therefore, you can use these for many occasions and purposes such as playing board games on it or for telling stories, and so on.
