Things To Remember When Preparing For A Dinner Party

Most people enjoying entertaining guests, it could be for friends, family or work colleagues, it’s almost inevitable that you will entertain at some stage in your life.

Many people worry about the thought of entertaining, they worry that guests may be fussy eaters, that people won’t arrive on the night and they worry that they won’t be able to prepare all of the food. Making sure your dinner party is a success isn’t a problem and here are some tips to help you.

Deciding on which guests to invite is your first take, don’t invite more people than you have space for and if you’re going to sit at the table for dinner then make sure everyone can fit around it. Invite your guests as soon as possible, give them as much notice as you can to ensure they can come.

Send out invitations, you can do this by email or post and when you send them ask your guests if they have a special diet such as vegetarian, an allergy to nuts or allergic to some other food product. By asking this you can prepare and avoid embarrassment at your party.

The success of your dinner party is all in the preparation and the earlier you can start to prepare the better. A well equipped kitchen will ensure that food preparation is easy, for example if you are planning on serving soup to guests then your preparation can be greatly reduced if you use a hand blender to do the job. There are so many different soups that you can make such as chicken soup, minestrone soup and vegetable soup to name but a few.

You can also speed up the preparation of the main course by cooking it before your guests arrive and then popping it in a countertop microwave for a reheat when you are ready to serve.

Pavlova is always an impressive dessert to make, it’s a mouthwatering meringue base dessert, it looks fantastic and really impresses people. Pavlova isn’t very difficult to make, it looks harder than it actually is. Firstly you take egg whites and beat them until they are stiff, try holding the container so it’s upside down and the mixture doesn’t fall out then it’s ready. You can reduce the time it takes for this by using a kitchen aid hand mixer for the job. Gently fold your caster sugar, white vinegar, cornstarch and if you like vanilla and put it on a slow bake. Add some fresh fruit and lavish helpings of whipped cream and your Pavlova is made for your guests to enjoy.

These tips for preparing for a dinner party will really help you relieve your stress levels and go a long way to making the evening a success.
