Decorative Veneer

Veneer Brick Looks And Feels Like Actual Brick But Is Much Less Expensive
Veneer is a material that is used in construction for decorative purposes. The material is also referred to as facing and can be found in many different materials. Thin brick is one of the most popular kinds of this material and has the appearance of brick without the cost of brick.
The term facing is used to identify the practice of applying another material to the surface of a wall. This brick veneer material may be applied on internal or external walls and provides a more textured surface and appearance than a standard flat wall that has been painted. Brick is a common material used in facing, however, wood is also popular.
There are many different types of hardwood that can be found in veneer. Typically exotic woods have a prohibitive cost for the average homeowner, but these same woods are available in veneer at much more affordable prices. Also popular among veneer finishes are plaster and stone. By using these materials a space can be transformed.
These building elements are just as conducive to commercial structures as they are to residential structures. When these materials are applied properly it is sometimes almost impossible to tell the difference between facing and the actual material. This is particularly true of wood veneers, where it is often not possible to tell the difference between solid wood and wood veneer.
Veneer brick is often used to create a rustic image, but it also lends itself well to contemporary or classic decors as well. You are not limited to the way this material will look. Using the right accents and other materials you can create any setting you desire.
Veneer is applied in a similar manner to laying tile. The surface the material is going to be applied to needs to be cleaned and then there is mortar spread onto the wall. At this point the brick is set in place on top of the mortar. While the brick is drying, plastic is used to keep the spacing uniform. When the mortar has dried then the brick is grouted.
This material looks good on a wall, but looks particularly smart on a wall around a fireplace or behind a wood burning stove. You can also create a false image of an industrial feel with veneer. This can turn a standard area into a space that is reminiscent of old factories. This is a great way to decorate an area of a basement and lends itself well to a ‘man cave” or a wine cellar.
Faux brick is used as a decorating element in the construction or renovation of a residential or commercial space. The brick veneer material provides the illusion of being solid brick, but it is much more affordable. Applying veneer is very similar to laying tile and can be done rather easily. This material is great in the use of decorating the area around a fireplace or in a that man cave or wine cellar.
